For the 3rd year the Knights of Columbus, Council 1616 will receive a $5.00 donation for every deer hide donated to Russell Farms. They are located at 5616 N. Riverview Drive Parchment, MI. Catholic Charities Diocese of Kalamazoo honored its 2014 Caring Network/Celebrate Life award recipients. The ceremony was held during the 25th anniversary celebration for Caring Network. Recipients included:
The Sister Edna Outstanding Service Award Winner: Ms Mary Henstschl-Early. Mary is a past supervisor of Caring Network and a longtime WarmLine volunteer. Mary directed the St Agnes House Program for teen mothers and today directs the daycare and child development program at Loy Norrix High School in addition to providing CCDOK's post-adoption search services.
The Katherine Van Domelen Caring Network Volunteer Award Winner: Ms Jill Jilek. Jill has been a committed and compassionate volunteer in support of Catholic Charities for many years, with service ranging from answering CCDOK phones to serving as the CCDOK Board President. She currently serves on CCDOK's Community Development Council. In addition to her services at CCDOK, Jill has been actively involved in Hackett Catholic Central High School and St Monica's Parish and in pro-life activities.
The Mother Teresa Outstanding Group Award Winner: Knights of Columbus, District 23. Comprised of six Knights of Columbus (K of C) Councils in the greater Kalamazoo area (from St Monica, St Catherine of Siena, St Mary, St Martin of Tours, St Augustine Cathedral parishes, and the Bishop Markiewicz Council), the District 23 K of C have consistently been involved in pro-life activities. This involvement includes financial support, participating in the March on Washington, the Right-to-Life Prayer Chain, the Diocesan March for Life, and 40 Days-for-Life
